Description
The Patagonia-Sonoita Creek Preserve is a Nature Conservancy area that includes the upper 2 miles of permanent flow in Sonoita Creek and the floodplain adjacent to the stream, totaling 873-acres. The area protects riparian habitat, ancient Fremont Cottonwoods, open grassy areas and the associated birds, rare fish, frogs, and other wildlife. Trails provide access to the preserve, and a visitor center provides trail information, bird checklists, and a list of current sightings.

Location
The preserve is located just west of the town of Patagonia, north of Highway 82. From Highway 82 in Patagonia, turn north on 4th Avenue; turn left (west) on Pennsylvania (which changes to Blue Heaven), cross the creek, and go about 1 mile to the entrance. Watch for signs. The address is 150 Blue Heaven Road, Patagonia, AZ.
Hours
During winter (October through March), the preserve is open 7:30 to 4:00, Wednesday through Sunday. During summer (April through September), the preserve is open 6:30 to 4:00 pm., Wednesday through Sunday. The preserve is always closed Monday and Tuesday and on Thanksgiving, the day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day. |

Fees
The Nature Conservancy charges $8 per person for non-members, $5 per person for TNC members and Cochise County Residents. Children under 13 are free. Annual passes are available.
