Sugarloaf Overlook Historical Junk
Sugarloaf Overlook Historical Junk
Wire wrapped around cable

Sugarloaf Overlook was used as a staging and dump area during construction of Hoover Dam in the 1930s. Considerable amounts of historic junk remain, but nothing of value. Please respect the history here: come and see the history, but leave it for future generations. Also, this junk is inside a National Park area and protected by law.

The ground surface at the Overlook appears to be mining spoils material, perhaps dug during construction of the spillways, as huge amounts of crushed rock were deposited here and leveled out.

Historic construction debris litter the overlook area, including pieces of old equipment, pipes, cables, wooden posts, old railroad track, cement foundations, old timbers, and a loading ramp (un-loading ramp?) overlooking the river.

For access information, see the Sugarloaf Overlook Trail webpage.
