Hiking Around Las Vegas, Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area

Overview Red Rock Overlook is a busy scenic overlook where visitors can stop, enjoy a picnic, stroll up a hill on the Overlook Trail, or just sit and gaze out across Red Rock Wash towards the Red Rock Cliffs to the left, the La Madre Mountains to the north, and the Calico Hills to the east. These views are available elsewhere, but at this distance, one gets the benefit of a truly grand sweeping vista. For residents who can visit from time to time, this is a nice place to bring a picnic lunch or dinner and see the landscape change with the seasons. Red Rock Overlook is located along West Charleston Blvd, about 1.7 miles west of (past) the turnoff to the Scenic Loop Road. It actually sits between the entrance and exit to the Scenic Loop Road, so visitors can drive out to Red Rocks, drive the Scenic Loop Road, and stop Red Rock Overlook on the way back to town.
