In Sloan Canyon, petroglyphs are concentrated in the main petroglyph gallery about 1.0 miles south of the Sloan Canyon Trailhead. The area is most easily accessed from this trailhead via the Petroglyph Trail (BLM 100 Trail; minimal 3rd-class scrambling) or the Horseman's Trail (BLM 200 Trail; no scrambling but longer). The main gallery is also accessible by the longer BLM 300 Trail, which starts on the other side of the mountains. Other petroglyphs are sprinkled about the NCA, mostly on boulders.
When visiting petroglyph sites, exercise the utmost in care to protect the artwork for your children and grandchildren. Don't touch the artwork because hand-oils damage them. Report vandalism to the BLM (Sloan Canyon National Conservation Area) or just call 911.
