Black-throated Gray Warbler (Dendroica nigrescens)

General Description: Black-throated Gray Warblers (Setophaga nigrescens) are small, sexually monomorphic songbirds. They have a black-and-white patterned face with a yellow spot in front of the eye (yellow lores). They also have two white wingbars on a dark wing, and black streaks on white sides of the body.

Taxonomy: Passeriformes, Parulidae.

Favored Habitat: Mountains.

Where to Find: During migration, Black-throated Gray Warblers can be found everywhere, but when you look for them, they are nowhere to be found; check Corn Creek and the Henderson BVP. These birds breed at higher elevations in places like Mt. Charleston and the Sheep Range.
