General: Shining Leaf Chafer Beetles (Cotalpa flavida) are Scarab beetles recognized by their elongate to oval, shiny body and unequal, independently movable tarsal claws (most obvious on the hind legs). Adults feed on leaves and fruit, and larvae feed on roots and decaying vegetation. This beetle was found in July under cottonwood trees along a stream in southern Utah. |
