Planthoppers (Infraorder Fulgoromorpha; Family Flatidae) are tiny bugs that feed on plants by piercing the plant and sucking its juices. Planthoppers are recognized by the way they hold their wings over the body as a tent to conceal their legs and other body parts. Also, the antennae are inserted on the side of the face below the eyes (antennae with three segments, the basal two thickened) and the forewing has a Y-shaped anal vein.

Planthoppers can be disease vectors for plants, but these tiny creatures are entirely harmless to humans.
