General: Zephyr Anglewing Butterflies (Polygonia zephyrus) are recognized by the notched and irregular edge of the wings and the black, orange, and yellow colors. This species is recognized by the yellow-orange color above and the forewing with round black spots and an irregular bar on the leading edge of the forewing. The border of the hindwing is not dark black, and there are only two spots on the leading edge of the hindwing, which lacks a black spot in center of wing. The underside is shades of brown, lighter toward the edges, plus a silvery "comma" in center.
