Suwannee Cooter (Pseudemys concinna suwanniensis)

General Description: Suwannee Cooters (Pseudemys concinna suwanniensis) are dark pond turtles with a dark, high-domed shell marked with faint yellow lines. The lines tend to form concentric circles, and those on the larger costal scutes appear as a backwards facing C-shaped yellow lines. The face is black, striped with yellow lines (but not yellow blotches).

Taxonomy: Sliders (Emydidae).

Where to Find: Don't look for Suwannee Cooters around Las Vegas. Rather, look for them in coastal rivers on the west side of Florida.
