Overview
There is one developed campground in Basin and Range National Monument (Mt. Irish Campground). Otherwise, there are no facilities of any kind, but primitive camping is legal everywhere along existing roads and trails, and there are a number of traditional campsites scattered throughout the area.
The Mail Summit Road Campsite, located outside the southeast edge of the National Monument on BLM land, has space for several trailers and RVs. For people with big RVs and long trailers, it might be better to camp here and enter the National Monument using Seaman Wash Road because Mail Summit Road gets steep and narrow climbing over the mountains.
While this site is scenic, it probably is more of a place to stop in the evening before moving into the National Monument the next day. For campers who like wide open spaces, grand scenery, and big starry nights, this is a good choice. Pack it in - Pack it out.
