Gold Butte Road at turn off to Kiosk Parking |
Overview
Gold Butte Road, which starts near the town of Mesquite, Nevada, is the gateway to the wild and rugged Gold Butte region. At the start of Gold Butte Road, on the southwest corner of Highway 170 and Gold Butte Road, a broad graded-dirt parking area (Table 1, Waypoint 1888) provides space for day-use parking, overnight parking, and camping.
On the west side of the parking lot, a three-panel information kiosk provides a map and some general information about the National Monument, which is still 11 miles away on Gold Butte Road.
This parking lot, often referred to as the Gold Butte Road Kiosk Parking Lot, serves at a meeting site for many of the groups staging up and heading south into the wild and woolly wonderland of Gold Butte National Monument.
