Entering the parking area (view SE) |
The Historic Railroad Trailhead is located in Lake Mead National Recreation Area, not far from the Visitor Center.
From town, drive out to Lake Mead. Drive south on Highway 93, through Boulder City, to Lakeshore Road (Table 1, Site 0803). Turn left (north) onto Lakeshore Road and drive north for 0.4 miles. After passing the Visitor Center on the right, turn right onto the Historic Railroad Access Road (Site 1425), also on the right. Drive into the large parking area (Site 0820). Park here; this is the trailhead.
The Historic Railroad Trailhead provides access to several hikes, including the Historic Railroad Trail, the River Mountains Loop Trail, a short, paved trail to the Visitor Center, and various other off-trail routes in the area.
