Entrance to the Red Rock Canyon Visitor Center (view N) |
Overview
Many places have somewhere to get answers to questions, many have a gift shop and some artifacts, and some even try to educate, but the Red Rock Canyon Visitor Center stands out.
The front of the building is plain, and the approach is somewhat long, giving the feeling of walking out into the wilds of the desert. Inside, the main hall is cavernous, and there is an information desk and a gift shop, but the initial impression is "where is everything?"
Well, it's out back in the out-of-doors. Based around the four elements, earth, wind, water, and fire, outdoor exhibits explain myriad details of life and living in the desert.
Red Rock Canyon Visitor Center is located at the start of the Scenic Loop Road, but drivers can exit the Visitor Center without driving the entire 13-mile, one-way road. |
