General: Clokey Milkvetch (Astragalus aequalis) is a perennial forb that has grayish, compound leaves, cream-colored (yellowish) flowers, and inflated, reddish seedpods. The leaflets are narrow and widely separated.
Clokey Milkvetch is an uncommon component of vegetation communities
in dry, well-drained gravelly areas on bajadas into the mountains in the Upper
Sonoran (Mojave Desert Scrub and Pinyon-Juniper
Woodland), Transition (Yellow Pine Forest), and Canadian (Pine-Fir Forest) life zones.
