General: Cooper's Rubberweed (Hymenoxys cooperi) is a perennial forb with many finely dissected leaves at the base, and several yellow sunflowers at the top. The flowers have long petals that tend to fold back from the center.
Cooper's Rubberweed is a common, sometimes abundant component of vegetation communities in dry, well-drained gravelly areas on upper bajadas into the lower mountains in the Upper Sonoran (Pinyon-Juniper Woodland), Transition (Yellow Pine Forest), and Canadian (Pine-Fir Forest) life zones.
