General: Roving Sailor (Maurandella antirrhiniflora) is a perennial forb that grows as a vine. Green leaves hastate (arrowhead-shaped with the basal lobes oriented perpendicular to the main axis). Flower tubular, two petal lobes up, three petal lobes down; pink, red, to violet.
Roving Sailor is an uncommon component of vegetation communities in dry, well-drained gravelly areas on bajadas into the lower mountains in the Upper Sonoran (Mojave Desert Scrub) life zone.
Around Las Vegas, look for Roving Sailor in the bottom of the Grand Canyon on cliffs above the Colorado River.
