Willow Dock (Rumex salicifolius)

General: Willow Dock (Rumex salicifolius) is a perennial forb that grows along creeks in the mountains. Willow Dock has lanceolate leaves and should not be confused with another desert Dock: Wild Rhubarb.

Willow Dock is an uncommon component of vegetation communities in wet areas on upper bajadas into the mountains in the Upper Sonoran (Mojave Desert Scrub and Pinyon-Juniper Woodland), Transition (Yellow Pine Forest), Canadian (Pine-Fir Forest), and Hudsonian (Bristlecone Pine Forest) life zones.

Around Las Vegas, look for Willow Dock along creeks in the Cold Creek area up on Mt. Charleston.

Family: Buckwheat (Polygonaceae).
