General Description: Blue-winged Teal (Anas discors) are sexually dimorphic pond ducks. Males are mottled brown overall with a blue-gray head and black hind quarters. Females are mottled brown overall. Both genders have patches of light blue feathers on the upper surface of the wing that usually is concealed, but it shows in flight. Males have a white crescent on the face. The legs are yellow, and a patch of white may show ahead of the black hind quarters.
