General Description: Sora (Porzana carolina) are small, secretive shorebird-like creatures of freshwater marshes with a gray body, rusty wings and back speckled with white, a yellow bill, and a black face patch. The tail is short and often held upright showing the white underside.

Taxonomy: Gruiformes, Rallidae, Rallinae.

Favored Habitat: Freshwater marshes.
