General Description: Great Crested Flycatchers (Myiarchus cinerascens) are large flycatchers with red in the wings and tail, plus a yellow belly. The red in the tail reaches the tips of the feathers.
Taxonomy: Passeriformes, Tyrannidae, Tyranninae.
Favored Habitat: Treetops in the Eastern deciduous forest.
Where to Find: Don't look for Great Crested Flycatchers around Las Vegas. Rather, look for them in the eastern US during summer or in Central and South America during winter.
Comments: Great Crested Flycatchers are similar to Ash-throated flycatchers, which are fairly common around Las Vega. |
