General Description: House Wrens (Troglodytes aedon) are tiny gray-brown birds with a light breast, long bill, and a long tail. In contrast to other species of wrens around Las Vegas with which it might be confused, this species lacks (or has a very slight) an eyeline. In particular, compare this long-tailed species with Bewick's Wren.

Taxonomy: Passeriformes, Troglodytidae.

Favored Habitat: Desert and urban areas.

Where to Find: House Wrens are not usually seen anywhere, but show up in brushy desert canyons and urban areas especially during migration.

Comments: Probably nests locally, but most House Wrens seen around Las Vegas are migrating through the region.
