Black-throated Sparrow (Amphispiza bilineata)

General Description: Black-throated Sparrows (Amphispiza bilineata) are monomorphic. They have a black head and throat, a bold white eyeline, and bold white mustache (gular) line. The breast is clear gray. The black tail has some white, but it is hard to see. The back and wings are unmarked. Juveniles are duller overall, lack the black throat, and have streaks on the chest.

Taxonomy: Passeriformes, Emberizidae.

Favored Habitat: Desert scrub.

Where to Find: Out in the desert scrub -- you just have to be lucky.
