Identification: Ocelots (Leopardus pardalis) are large, reddish-brown cats with a long tail and marked with black spots and black stripes. Ocelots are slightly bigger than a bobcat, weighing up to about 40 pounds.
Preferred Habitat: Thick desert thorn scrub with rocky areas.
Where to Find: Don't look for Ocelot around Las Vegas. Rather, look for them in southern Arizona and southern Texas, south into South America. Alternatively, look for them at the Arizona-Sonoran Desert Museum near Tucson, AZ.
