The Family Pieridae includes two subfamilies in Nevada, the Whites (Pierinae) and the Sulphurs (Coliadinae). The Pierids generally are medium-sized butterflies. The Whites are recognized by their white wings, variously marked with black, red, yellow, and other colors. The Sulphurs are recognized by their yellow wings, variously marked with black and other colors.
