Approaching the brown water tank (view W) |
Brown Tank Trailhead is located in Lake Mead National Recreation Area, not far from the Visitor Center and up the hill from Boulder Beach.
From town, drive out to Lake Mead. Drive south on Highway 93, through Boulder City, to Lakeshore Road (Table 1, Site 0803). Turn left (north) onto Lakeshore Road and drive north to the entrance station. Pay the fee, then continue north for 0.9 miles to an unmarked dirt road on the left (Site 1415). The turnoff is just before Lakeshore Road becomes divided for the campground turnoff. The dirt road leads to a large, brown water tank on the hillside that can be seen from the pavement.

Trailhead parking (view SW) |
Turn left onto the dirt Brown Tank Road and drive west 0.5 miles. The road winds around, but pass all side roads, as the main road being obvious. Pass the brown water tank, pass a chain-link fence on the left, and park near a high-tension power tower (Site 1416). Park here, this is the trailhead.
Brown Tank Trailhead provides access to several routes, including Seven Falls Canyon, Many Falls Canyon, the Cholla Forest, Majestic Canyon, and other routes on the southeast side of the River Mountains. |
