General: Strigose Bird's-foot Trefoil (Lotus strigosus) is a low-growing annual forb that may or may not be rough hairy (strigose). The leaves are compound with 4-9 leaflets, the pea-type flowers are small and yellow, and the fruits are relatively straight, long, and narrow.
Strigose Bird's-foot Trefoil is a fairly common component of vegetation communities in dry, well-drained sandy and gravelly soils on desert flats and lower bajadas in the Lower Sonoran (Creosote-Bursage Flats) and Upper Sonoran (Mojave Desert Scrub) life zones.
Around Las Vegas, look for Strigose Bird's-foot Trefoil mostly on desert flats, such as those around Lake Mead NRA.
